Frank Carroll

Granger

Frank Carroll, 66, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He was born September 23, 1950, one of eight children, to Robert and Julia (Geneser) Carroll. Frank grew up on a farm west of Granger and participated in 4H. He went to Assumption Catholic School and graduated from Dowling High School in 1968. He attended Loras College until he volunteered to serve our great country in the Vietnam War as part of the 101st Airborne. Frank was honorably discharged in 1971…HOOAH! He married Pamela Grimes and had four amazing children. He made his home west of Granger where he also managed his family's Century Farm. Frank dedicated 40 years to John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny where he became a Journeyman Electrician. While at John Deere he served the UAW Local 450 as Shop Committeeman and Chairman for 19 years. Frank was a lifetime member of Assumption Catholic Church where he served on the parish council, building committee and bazaar committee. He was a member of the Granger American Legion Post #717 and delighted to share concurrent membership with his father, Robert (WWII) and son, Brian (Gulf War). Frank was a life-long member of the AMVETS and a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and loved showing off his family on the Carroll float at the St. Patrick's Day parade every year.

Frank's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially cheering on his grandchildren in their many activities. He also took pleasure in traveling the world with his siblings. Frank was an avid Notre Dame fan, attending football games every year. He also cheered for the Dowling Maroons and Chicago Bears. Frank enjoyed golfing, playing cards and shooting pool with his many friends. In his retirement years he enjoyed wintering in Florida with his family.

Frank is survived and lovingly remembered by his four children, Brian (Becky) Carroll, Jammie (Leslie) Carroll, Tanya (Nick) Boyle, and Tiffany (Jamie) Arnburg; ten grandchildren, Chelsea, Savannah, McKenna, Ryan, Jake, Alli, Cora, Evie, Blake and Tristen; and his siblings, Jeanne (Atis) Lubavs, Patty (Jan) Maly, Lorraine (Bill) Drews, Phil (Judy) Carroll, Paul Carroll, Mary Carroll and John Carroll. He is joined in eternal life with his parents, Robert and Julia Carroll.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24th at Assumption Catholic Church at 1906 Sycamore Street, Granger, Iowa from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 25, at Assumption Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Beaver Catholic Cemetery, in rural Granger. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Granger American Legion Post #717. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
