Timothy Osweiler

Des Moines - Timothy James Osweiler passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at UnityPoint Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa. He had been battling cancer for more than a year. Tim was born June 7, 1950 to Cletus and Donna Oweiler in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Dowling High School and attended the University of Iowa where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. Tim was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1974. He returned to Iowa City, where he worked as a Research Assistant for the University of Iowa Hospitals. He eventually moved back to Des Moines and worked for the U.S. Postal Service from 1985 until his retirement in 2012.

Tim was an avid fisherman and gardener. He loved biking, working out at the gym, mushroom hunting and was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan.

Tim was preceded in death by his father and mother and his brother, Stephen Osweiler. He is survived by his brothers Michael Osweiler (Gerry) and John Osweiler (Teri), and his sisters Deborah Benson (Larry), Mary Osweiler (Fred) and Donna Gall (Vince) and his five nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, June 26th at 10:00 am. To share memories of Tim or to give condolences, please visit www.caldwellparrish.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in his name may be made to the Raccoon River Valley Trail Connector project through the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation (www.INHF.org).

My best friend at Dowling.  Many great memories of hunting and fishing excursions, in particular the 1968 trip to Minnesota following graduation.  Always appreciated the kindness your parents showed to me in high school.  Regards to your family members on your passing.
